Ever since Entertainment Weekly reported in December that Director M. Night Shyamalan is making a live-action take on AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER has been causing controversy, but not about the movie being made into a live action film, but on the Cast Members he offered to play the roles to.
Roles:
Aang to karate-trained Texan Noah Ringer
Sokka to Jackson Rathbone (TWILIGHT)
Katara to Nicola Peltz (DECK THE HALLS)
Zuko to Jesse McCartney
Why is this causing such a controversy? This may all be due to the fact that the roles being offered to play Asian characters are all Caucasian actors.

Re: Avatar:The Last Airbender Controversy We are not protesting Jesse because he is not capable of doing a good job, we are protesting because this is an Asian show but all the main characters were cast as white. That's racism and we are telling the movie industry that we will NOT stand for it.Join the fight @http://aang-aint-white.livejournal.com/ BTW- Jesse's role has been cast with Dev Patel (SlumDog Millionaire)...
